A tribute to the Beauty of the shoe industry’s engineering work | Spatial objects | embroidery and plexiglass objects inspired by shoe pattern editing process

My inspiration came from the idea of the pictures which I see on my computer screen day by day during the shoe pattern editing works. I wanted to visualize the beauty of the shoe industry’s engineering by creating spatial art objects of the digital pattern editing process. I decided to look for the ideal technological and technical ways to objectify these aesthetic views.

First I tried the hand embroidery then I used sewing machine to create sewed network of different colourful threads. The sewed textile network shows 95 overlapping graded lines featuring the shoe upper pattern of a women’ boots.

Afterwards I step forward this experimental milestone and came to the final decision for the best result. I chose the plexiglass material. I adjusted the different parts in layered structure sewed by hand with an invisible nylon wire. I could keep the proper edges of fitting the layers with the help of this solid material. The plexiglass spatial artwork shows the shoe upper patterns of 18 overlapping parts featuring a full-brogues oxford style sneakers’ design in 1:1 / 37 EU size proportions ( 30 x 40 x 2 cm ), and also in 3:1 magnification of the real size ( 109 cm x 70 x 6 cm ).

I examined the visuality of the line structures using digital prints, too:

FUTURE PLANS

DONE Flourish around collection 2019 S/S was titled « Ink is flowing on the table ». The main inspiration was the Puzzle and Abstract series of my individual artistic line shoe-sculptures. In the future I plan to improve my experimental works using the patterns of these shoe designs. This time I will use coloured transparent plexiglass sheets to show the upper parts’ layered construction which consists of the main materials, the lining materials, the inner lining materials, the sole lining material, the heel covering and other supplementary materials like toe-caps…etc.

Creating spatial plexiglass objects of the Puzzle series shoe sculptures and the DONE Flourish around designs. Work is now on……… 2025-26
